As found in both the Chicagoland 2016 study and the Southern California 2014 study, many service members leaving the military are not prepared for the transition, and struggle during the process. Many had no job, no home, 10% had food insecurity, many had health concerns, 40% had PTSD, and 33% were at risk of suicide.
